Shr Fu, I wish to transform my gratitude with regard to your kindness, into a Dharma wheel, turning in the ten directions,
Using the wisdom of expediency, to guide and save living beings who have lost their way.
Shr Fu, I wish to transform my memory of you into the Buddha, smiling with the radiance of compassion,
Serving as bridges of convenience, to show the way to travellers in the night.
Shr Fu, I wish to transform my respect towards you, into the spring breezes, causing the earth to awaken,
Bestowing the Dharma dew universally, to wake up souls that are sound asleep.
Shr Fu, I wish to transform your exhortation and teaching, into a lighthouse, hanging high up in empty space,
Using the auspicious radiance of compassion, to serve as bright light amongst treacherous tidal waves.
Unable to exhaustively praise the virtue of my kind teacher,
Unable to exhaustively repay the admonition provided by my kind teacher─
These are small incidents in remembrance of my teacher’s kindness, which constantly moisten my clothes.
It is a long night, with bright stars in the sky;
My thoughts flow without cease, passing on the wisdom life in succession.
Without this affinity, the Way would wither and come to an end.
Moreover, I wish that our minds will mutually coincide.
Following you in all I do, I wish to perpetuate the lineage of the Dharma.
I have no way to repay your kindness, except to follow you in walking the Path.
Written respectfully by remorseful disciple Guo Jue
