Time passes quickly; it rushes by. It’s already been a month since our benevolent teacher, the Venerable Master, entered Nirvana. Every time I think about our benevolent teacher’s kindness, virtue, and teachings─his invisible instructions, I find that my place of reliance is gone, and my heart feels at a loss. In the final stage of my life, our benevolent teacher’s instructions and his Six Guiding Principles have been a bright light for me: they have changed my view on human life. I will always remember that the way to reach perfection is to cultivate good karma of all kinds and to walk the path to Bodhi.
Ah! Human life is painfully brief. How fast it passes! The Sage is already gone. The most precious things that our benevolent teacher left behind were his spirit and his virtue in renouncing himself for the sake of others. He led a group of Buddhist disciples, exerting his mental and physical strength, using all his heart and soul to instruct and guide them, hoping that each and every disciple would become accomplished; perpetuate the lineage of the Buddhas; propagate the Buddhas’ Dharma; and teach and transform all living beings so that they will leave suffering and attain bliss. This is the wish of our benevolent teacher, who never sought for himself, but bore sufferings and difficulties on behalf of all living beings in the nine Dharma realms.
Our benevolent teacher’s magnificent accomplishments are limitless, and his vow is that he will not become a Buddha until all living beings have become Buddhas.
